PAS, which has ruled Kelantan since 1990, had never rejected development as it gave priority to the people's benefit, said Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

"I still remember when I took the oath of office as menteri besar...various quarters had made many accusations against me.

"Among them were that the PAS-led government under my leadership would not last long as it could not implement development projects.

"However, this (the party's) perseverance succeeded in continuing to rule Kelantan," he told media representatives after officiating an earth-breaking ceremony for the Bandar Utama Gua Musang housing project here today.

He said, among the development projects carried out was the one he had just officiated through the joint efforts of the state government, Gua Musang district council and Syarikat Bandar Utama Gua Musang Sdn Bhd.

The project, Nik Abdul Aziz said, would meet the increasing need for houses.

The menteri besar said that as the leader of the state government, he would continue to focus on such development projects to benefit the people.

Meanwhile, company managing director Ong Kin Wah said the project, costing RM100 million, would become the new landmark for the Gua Musang town.

He said the housing project would serve as a catalyst for development activities in Ulu Kelantan, especially for rural people.
