Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said that the action of a non-Muslim delegate from PKR in quoting verses from the Quran when speaking at the party's annual congress, which concluded in Petaling Jaya yesterday, was a good development.
He said what the delegate, identified as S Kesavan, did was good because it would prompt others to also use the Quran as reference.
"He had only related how the Quran made it compulsory for all mankind to carry out their responsibilities well," he told the media after attending a conference of menteris besar and chief minister of states controlled by DAP, PAS and PKR.
Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat, who was also present, said non-Muslims were allowed to quote verses from the Quran.
On the conference, Abdul Khalid said they only discussed socio-econonic matters and did not dwell on the next general election.
