BN Convention tomorrow a prep for GE

BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the concept of 1Malaysia was important to be discussed as Malaysia had a plural society.
Speaking to reporters after launching the Parliament Putrajaya 'Juara Rakyat' programme here today, he said other topics that would be discussed were socio-economy, security, education, religion, enhancing the government delivery system and also law and corruption.
The leaders of each of the 13 component parties would also have a chance to debate on the topics, including Deputy BN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, MIC president S Samy Vellu and MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek, he added.
All the leaders have been allocated 15 minutes for their speeches.
He said all the component parties should treat the BN Convention tomorrow as a preparation for the next general election.
2,340 delegates to attend
He said about 2,340 delegates from BN component parties, friends of BN as well as NGOs were expected to attend this year's convention, themed ‘1 People, 1 Nation, 1 Vision’.
Asked whether the convention would be held annually, he said it depended on the need.
The last BN convention was held on 2001.
The convention is expected to adopt a charter which will be handed over to the prime minister.
In conjunction with the convention, Najib will attend the 1BN Perdana dinner at Seri Perdana, in Putrajaya tonight.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Rakyat will be holding its convention on Dec 19 in Penang.
