MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai has dismissed talk that the Raub MCA division is not supportive of the leadership of Raub Member of Parliament Ng Yen Yen, as a mere rumour.

He said the claim was not true and in fact, Raub MCA always gave their full support to Ng since she won the seat in 1999 and would continue to work closely with her to defend the seat in the next general election.

NONE "We want to stop this rumour mongering by irresponsible quarters," Liow said after meeting with state and Raub MCA leaders, in Raub, today.

Besides Ng, who is also party vice-president, present were Pahang MCA deputy chairman Datuk Hoh Khai Mun, Raub division chief Datuk Lam Kam Sang and the division's committee members.

Asked whether the rumour could have been started and spread by individuals inside the party, Liow who is also Pahang MCA chief, denied it, saying it was the work of outsiders.

Liow said the MCA central leadership and Raub division would work harder to defend the Raub seat and increase grassroot programmes for the people's benefit, as well as to implement the pledges made at the recent BN Convention.

Meanwhile, Lam condemned the action and motive by some local individuals who were deliberately trying to destroy the close relations between the Raub MP and the division's leaders.

He also expressed full support for Ng to defend her parliamentary seat and pledged to uphold BN's transformation aspirations.

"Raub MCA will help realise the 'people first' concept and fight for policies that will give more benefits to the people in the constituency," he said.

He said since winning the Raub seat in 1999, Ng had worked hard to bring development to the area which showed her capability as a leader.

He added that Ng's commitment to services for the people remained strong even though in the 2008 general election, the Tras state seat was won by the opposition.
