MIC Youth wants the seat allocation given to the wing in the 2008 general election (GE ) to be maintained in the next GE.

Its chief T. Mohan said although Indians formed a minority in all parliamentary and state constituencies, the wing was confident of wresting back the two parliamentary and one state seat it lost in the 2008 GE.

Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting of the wing's Central Committee in Kuala Lumpur today, he said MIC Youth would be holding special programmes in preparing for the next GE involving all its division leaders from Dec 17 to 19.

The wing was allocated two parliamentary and three state seats in the 2008 GE, but only won two state seats - Gambir (M.Asojan) and Kahang (R.Vidyananthan), both in Johor.

Mohan, who contested the Batu Caves parliamentary seat, lost.

The other two parliamentary seats it lost were Subang and Kota Raja, both in Selangor, where the candidates were S. Murugesan and former MIC Youth chief S. Vigneswaran respectively.
