Penang DAP veteran Phee Boon Poh suffered a shock defeat today in state party elections .

Phee, Chairman of the State Health and welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee, came in 16th in the contest for 15 seats.

Phee, the hardworking assemblyman for Sungai Puyu, received 173 votes, six less than Gooi Seong Kin, who finished 15th.

The other assemblymen who lost were Lau Keng Ee (Pengkalan Kota), Yeoh Soon Hin (Paya Terubung), Koid Teng Guan (Sungai Pinang) and A Tanahsekharan (Bagan Dalam).

Phee told reporters later that the defeat simply meant that he had to work harder for the party.

    

Datuk Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo, son of DAP Chairman Karpal Singh, emerged at the top with 348 votes out of a possible 466.

He was followed by Chairman of the State Tourism, Culture and Heritage Committee Law Heng Kiang who obtained 321 votes.

Meanwhile, Chow Kon Yeow, Chairman of the Local Government, Traffic Management and Environment Committee, retained his chairmanship of Penang DAP for his sixth term.
