Najib: Those who claim Felda bankrupt are traitors

Lesungbatu: PM Najib Razak, the rakyat have given their trust to the government to manage the nation's resources properly. You've been saying many people are traitors - how about those plundering and abusing the rakyat's money? Are they not the biggest traitors to the nation?

Low Yat: Traitor this, traitor that - come on lah , be a gentleman. Give some room for the concerned rakyat to criticise. This is the patriotic stand, instead of keeping quiet or "buat bodoh".

Not everything BN do is always correct. The rakyat have the right to know how Felda's reported RM4 billion has shrunk to RM1 billion-plus in two years' time. Is that wrong to ask?

How about the purchase of two submarines and giving away RM500 million in commissions? Now that's a real treacherous act.

Keturunan Malaysia: I thought to be concerned about the welfare of Felda was pretty commendable. If it is not bankrupt, it does not need a rocket-scientist to prove it is not. But if it is, maybe you need imported 'consultants' to deny it with the full backing of each and every machinery/institution at the government's disposal.

Dear PM, you are using the wrong word for the wrong reason, targeted at the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Albert: Sometimes I find that PM Najib really behaves like a child. His statement implies that any concerned rakyat who claims that government institutions are bankrupt or corrupt, will be considered as traitors.

Why can't Najib prove them wrong by providing documentary evidence? If all financial information pertaining to Felda are "sulit" or "rahsia", then all bets are off. It will be Najib's words against the accusers.

FairMind: If Felda is as rich as Najib claims, then why is Felda paying peanuts to the farmers and taking advantage of them by suppressing the prices of their produce? Aren't they entitled to the wealth as claimed by Najib? Who is the traitor, then?

Dennis Madden: What is so treacherous/treasonous about making comments against Felda? It must be the season for threats as of late, Najib has been throwing threats around on an almost daily basis.

Wira: If the government says Felda is not bankrupt, then it is not bankrupt because millions can be channelled to bail out the organisation where and when necessary. No one can be faulted if they suspect the money released in the ‘Price Transformation Programme' (PTP) triggered by the recent increases in fuel prices are not also used for such purpose.

Cala: Telling the world what Felda has in its books will not do away the fear that the agency has been mismanaged. A more thorough study of the state of Felda is required.

First, if my memory serves me right, former deputy minister of land and cooperative development Tan Kee Kwong was concerned about the sudden evaporation of a large amount of cash from Felda's book.

Second, to an ordinary man on the street, he is bothered by Felda's intention to build a monumental headquarter, a move obviously not in line with its stated objective of poverty eradication.

If Najib is upset with the criticisms levelled at him or Felda, he is being childish and totally off-tangent. For love of Malaysia, it is doing the right thing to be vigilant on how the regime uses public funds. The gesture of mere questioning does not make one a ‘traitor' to the nation. The political agents who abuse the trust and misuse public funds are in fact the real traitors.

Let us recap what is the original roadmap to achieving a high-income nation. Vision 2020 requires that nine challenges be met: producing a united nation; in pursuit of excellence in the chosen endeavour; democratic nation; high ethical standards; allowing freedom of culture and religion; seeking scientific progress; caring culture; an economically just society; and finally producing a prosperous society.

Hence, is it not abundantly clear that Vision 2020 calls for transparency, accountability and responsiveness on the part of the regime (to achieve high ethical standard, and be proficient in one's chosen endeavour)? Is it not the job of individual citizens to see to its adherence?

Monsterball: Najib is desperate to score points and win votes. By continuously using the word ‘traitors', he's hoping to drum up hatred amongst Malaysians. That's his plan - to encourage hatred.

S'pore 'conspiracy' against Anwar 'shocking'

Anon: Yeah right, blame it on the Singapore intelligence, the Special Branch, the devil, the kitchen sink and everything else, but never the man himself. Maybe that's why the need to gloss over as he is "anugerah Tuhan".

DP Rajah: Has Lee Kuan Yew's visit to Rosmah Mansor to do anything with it? If so, then there is more than meets the eye. Why this stand by Singapore? They are crucifying Anwar Ibrahim even before the conclusion of the Sodomy II hearing. Are all this not subjudice to be published at the will and pleasure of the press?

Black Mamba: Lee Kuan Yew is fearful of Anwar's ascension to Putrajaya with a potpourri of mismatch political ideological parties which they calculate may cause instability to the region, thus affecting Singapore's economy. They would rather have someone they can easily rein in, like Najib, who they probably are able to hold on to ransom.
