The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Supply Bill 2011 (Budget 2011), involving RM212 billion, without any fuss.

It was passed at 7.25pm after the third reading by Second Finance Minister Husni Hanadzlah.

This was unlike Budget 2010 which was passed with only a three-vote majority at 11.15pm on Dec 14, 2009.

This time around the budget was passed just by voice vote unlike last year where Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin saved the day.

Najib had tabled Budget 2011 which was higher by 2.8 per cent than that of Budget 2010, on Oct 15.

The allocation for operating cost was RM162.8 billion and RM49.2 billion for development.
