The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer involved in an accident on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) yesterday, was given the authority to carry a weapon while on duty.

According to MACC in a statement here today, assistant enforcement officer Jackson Mingat Pinol, from the Safety Division, is authorised to carry the weapon while on duty and had passed tests as well as rules and procedures to operate the weapon.

MACC said this in comment to media reports of a pistol was found at the scene of an accident which involved Jackson Mingat.

Jackson Mingat was on his way to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to return the Glock 9mm pistol after completing an official duty, the statement added.

"The pistol was returned by police to the MACC headquarters in good condition, just like how our officer had received it," said MACC.

MACC stated that its officers were authorised to carry and operate weapons during official duty as provided under Section 6 of the Firearms Act 1960, read together with Section 10 of the MACC Act 2009.
