All housing developers in Kuala Lumpur intending to put up luxury projects on hill slopes must comply with the new guidelines enforced in October.

Secretary-General of the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry Ahmad Phesal Talib said the Guidelines on Development Planning for Hilly Areas and Slopes for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur 2010 had stipulated more stringent requirements.

"This guideline stresses on the aspect of engineering solutions in considering approval for any development planning by stipulating more stringent and comprehensive conditions," he said.

He said the guidelines also adopted the Best Management and Engineering Practices in ensuring the safety of the public and properties as well as the preservation of the environment.

He said this to reporters after visiting the site for a housing project on the slope of Jalan Setiabistari, Bukit Damansara where the construction company, Tetuan SDB Damansara Sdn Bhd, planned to build 16 units of luxury bungalows.
