The Information Communication and Culture Minister has not received any official complaint on misappropriation in the distribution of 1Malaysia notebooks.

NONE Its deputy minister Joseph Salang said the ministry, however, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) together with the Education Ministry, were continuously monitoring and improving the distribution process.

"This is to ensure there is no misappropriation so that the benefit from the initiative can reach the target groups," he said in reply to a question from Senator Mumtaz Md Nawi in the Dewan Negara today.

Salang said the distribution of the 1Malaysia notebooks was being monitored by the MCMC offices nationwide where feedback were also obtained from the school students who received the notebooks and other concerned parties like teachers, district education offices and village heads in order to assess the effectiveness of the programme.

NONE He said RM1 billion had been allocated to implement the programme involving the distribution of one million notebooks and subscribing to the broadband package for the students from families with household monthly incomes of less than RM3,000 and the low-income group.

    

"The limit for both target groups is one laptop computer for one household."

Salang ( right ) said the first phase of the programme involved the distribution of 123,000 computer notebooks to the target groups.

"Phase two involving 577,000 units and phase three, 300,000 units, are in the implementation process," he added.
