EPF income rises to RM5.75 bil in 3Q
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) raked in RM5.75 billion in investment income for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2010, a 5.12 percent increase from RM5.47 billion in the same quarter last year.
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) raked in RM5.75 billion in investment income for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2010, a 5.12 percent increase from RM5.47 billion in the same quarter last year.
In a statement today, it said equities investment was the largest contributor with RM2.40 billion, representing a 2.56 percent increase compared to the RM2.34 billion recorded in the previous corresponding period.
Loans and bonds were the second largest contributor to EPF’s investment income with a return of RM1.99 billion, an increase of RM102.45 million or 5.43 percent in reference to the RM1.89 billion recorded in the same period of 2009.
Investment in money market instruments recorded the most significant increase of 121.37 percent amounting to RM193.28 million when compared to the RM87.31 million income posted in the third quarter 2009.
Investment in Malaysian government securities generated a RM1.14 billion income, a marginal rise of RM0.54 million while investment in properties RM22.86 million - 6.97 percent higher than the returns in the same quarter in 2009.
As at Sept 30, 2010, EPF’s total investment fund stood at RM425.49 billion.
