The Sessions Court here today ordered a make-up artist to enter her defence to two counts of bribery, involving RM50,000.

Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali made the order after finding that the prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Sinti, from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against Ong Lai Fong, 37.

She fixed Jan 28 for Ong, whose Muslim name is Nur Hidayah Jasmin Abdullah, to enter her defence.

Bribe purportedly for top cop

Ong, who is represented by lawyer R Rajakumar, is charged with soliciting RM50,000 from a businesswoman, Yeow Wai Yee, purportedly on behalf of Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head, SAC II Abu Bakar Mustaffa, as an inducement to seek the release of her (Yeow) husband, Chung Siew Ling, who was detained by the Shah Alam police.

The offence was allegedly committed at a fast food outlet in Bandar One Utama here on June 7, 2004.

On the second count, Ong was charged with accepting RM50,000 bribe from Yeow also for the same purpose and at the same place on June 10, 2004.
