A witness in the trial of a policeman charged with causing the death of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah told the Shah Alam Sessions Court today that the car driven by the teenager had a valid road tax and insurance.

ASP Abdul Halim Ismail, who is the 38th prosecution witness, said a check with the Road Transport Department found that the road tax and insurance for the car, with registration number BET 5023, would only expire on Jan 14, 2011.

NONE However, he said he did not see the road tax sticker on the car screen when he inspected the vehicle together with members from the Forensic Department at the police station.

Abdul Halim said this when examined by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar in the trial of Corporal Jenain Subi, who is charged with causing Aminulrasyid's death at Jalan Tarian 11/2, Shah Alam between 1.10am and 2am last April 26.

Jenain, 48, is charged under Section 304 (a) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum 30 years' jail sentence and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.

At today's hearing, Abdul Halim, who is the investigating officer in the case, also identified and confirmed several of the exhibits which he gathered in the course of his investigation, which included a machete, eight magazines, two HK MP5 rifles and 169 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

At this juncture, judge Latifah Mohd Tahar stood down hearing for a while, following a request by Mohd Dusuki, to allow Abdul Halim to do a recount of the bullets.

Abdul Halim took about half-an-hour to remove the bullets from the magazine. The task left him with a lacerated right thumb.

When hearing continued at 5pm, Mohd Dusuki informed the court that he would call another witness, a tow-truck driver, before closing the case tomorrow.
