The car registration number MCA 1 has been won by Asset Nusa Sdn Bhd with a bid of RM300,000 - the highest ever for a motor vehicle plate number in Malaysia.

The Johor Bahru-based company also won MCA 2, bidding RM101,000, a spokesman of the Malacca Road Transport Department said today.

"We will be sending letters to successful bidders within two weeks, and to those who were unsuccessful after that," he told reporters.

The amount tendered for MCA 1 exceeds the previous record of RM242,000 for TAY 1.

The tender results for car registration numbers in the MCA series are displayed at the RTD office in Malacca, and can also be inspected at  www.jpj. gov.my.

The successful bidders include MCA central committee member Koh Nai Kwong, who won MCA 7 with a bid of RM64,776.80, and Malacca MCA chief Gan Tian Loo, who got MCA 5 for RM28,600.

The department expects to collect RM1.5 million from the bids and bookings for the registration numbers.
