New Straits Times and Star both led with news that the Malaysian football team, dubbed the Malayan tigers, won the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup yesterday when they beat Indonesia with an aggregate score of 4-2.

Friday, Dec 31, has been declared a public holiday to commemorate the much-awaited victory.

The last time Malaysia was crowned regional champions was in the SEA Games in 1989.

Football, and the announcement of a public holiday tomorrow, also took over the front-pages of Utusan Malaysia , Berita Harian and Sinar Harian .

Utusan also dedicated part of its front-page to DAP parliamentarian Teo Nie Ching, whom it claims is up to no good again by entering the compound of a mosque without fully covering the aurat , during an aerobics session organised by the mosque committee.

The Serdang MP had courted bad press earlier this year for entering a surau without covering her hair.
