Lintang state assembly representative Padil Harun dies at 12.50pm at the Selayang Hospital in Kuala Lumpur today, Bernama reported. He was 51.

According to the deputy head of the Sungai Siput Umno division Zazlan Mohd Jemin, Padil's remains would be brought back to his residence in Sungai Siput and would be buried at the Sungai Durian burial ground, Kampung Lintang at 10am tomorrow. The late Padil was the division head.

According to Bernama , Padil was admitted to the Selayang hospital o­n Feb 26 after being brought home from Mecca. Earlier, he had gone for the haj but could not complete the pilgrimage as he was suffering from liver ailment while performing the "tawaf" and was admitted to a hospital in Mecca o­n Feb 6.

In the last general election, Padil polled 7,948 votes to beat PAS candidate Ahmad Mazlan Othman for the Lintang state seat with a majority of 2,958 votes.

The Lintang state seat is o­ne of the two state constituencies in the Sungai Siput parliamentary constituency held by Works Minister and MIC president S. Samy Vellu.

Padil is survived by his two wives, Salamah Harun, 51, and Salwati Ramli, 36, and two children Husni Zaim, 29, and Yusharnis, 27, from his first marriage.
