PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim has always been the target for bashing by his former supporters-turned-Umno members, but last night his wife PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail became fair game.

NONE At a small ceramah in Bayan Baru, former PKR Youth secretary Lokman Nor Adam, now Umno's public speaking training head and a member of their special affairs department think-tank, ‘spilled the beans' on Wan Azizah ( right ) and her allegedly “expensive lifestyle” as part of his 90-minute smear on the Anwars.

Lokman told the ceramah that when Anwar was the Deputy Prime Minister prior to 1998, Wan Azizah had used to spend a lot of money making outfits to attend the various official dinners with her husband.

A suit would cost close to a staggering RM8,000, and she would tailor up to 20 pieces annually, he claimed.

But what upset him most, he lamented, was that while he and the several others ISA detainees were in Kamunting from 2001 to 2003, Wan Azizah did little to lighten the financial burden of their families.

He said the NGO Abolish ISA Movement (Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA or GMI) were the only ones at that time who had attempted to help the victims' families, until they at some point ran out of funds.

NONE "What is wrong if Wan Azizah tried to cut down her expenditure for her clothes – from 20 pieces annually to 18 pieces – so that the money could be donated to our families?" he asked.

"She could not even do this for a PKR supreme council member, so what they can she do for ordinary people?" he said.

Lokman ( left ) continued criticising Wan Azizah for not giving money to his family during the Hari Raya when he was in detention.

"Although Anwar has instructed her to give my family RM500 each... the money never came," he alleged.

"Anwar did not sacrifice... they are rich and wealthy... it is only the ordinary people at the ground who has sacrificed much," he said, adding that it was the ordinary supporters of the party who had sometimes sold their houses and land to fund Anwar's “so-called struggle”.

Ousting Guan Eng possible

Lokman, along with his BN comrades MCA Bayan Baru coordinator David Yim and Penang Umno Youth chief Norman Dhalan, was in Bukit Gedung for the first time last night in a ceramah dubbed ‘Ayat-ayat Cinta Pakatan Rakyat’ (Pakatan’s sweet talk).

NONE Perhaps inspired by Valentine’s Day on which it was held, the talk however managed to attract only 80 people.

It is part of BN’s attempts at recapturing Penang from the opposition by allegedly exposing Pakatan’s ‘sweet nothings’.

"If we are consistent, it is not impossible to get rid of (Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng," said Lokman.

He explained to the crowd that the reason he was on the road to criticise Anwar was because he “felt a responsibility to clarify matters”.

He added that they would not have been “cheated” had he not joined the campaign to free Anwar from the latter’s 1998 sodomy charge and dismissal from office.

He then launched into a 90-minute tirade into the alleged failings and trickery of Anwar Ibrahim, whom he said must never be allowed to lead Malaysia.

"If he leads , this country will be destroyed," the PKR-turned Umno member said.

Apco because of Anwar

Lokman told the ceramah how Mahathir had allegedly sacked the former DPM not only for sodomy, but for differing views on the economy.

He added that the former premier had also gotten rid of his deputy because of an alleged coup that Anwar and his team had planned to take over the country.

NONE He named a medical doctor from Penang, Rahim Ghouse (who has since fled to Australia), Mansor Othman (now Penang Deputy Chief Minister I), and former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor (now a senator and Umno returnee) as the main strategists in Anwar’s alleged plot.

Lokman attacks continued on to the PKR de facto leader’s personal life, saying how he once found Anwar in a very “suspicious” moment with a handsome young man, whom he alleged he had later discovered to have had been sodomised by the leader.

The bashing moved on to Anwar’s alleged sponsors, whom Lokman said included former MCA strongman Soh Chee Wen, who has since fallen out with the opposition leader, and deposed former Philippines president Joseph Estrada, who is serving life imprisonment for bribery.

He even blamed Prime Minister Najib Razak’s need to hire the controversial foreign public relations company Apco to Anwar having tarnished the country’s overseas reputation and causing great damage to the nation’s economy.

Even the late DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock was not spared Lokman’s extended tirade.

‘Use your bloody brains’

Lokman lashed out at those whom he said had implied that Umno was behind Teoh’s death, expressing his sympathy for the deceased and his family adding that even Umno was eager to unearth the real cause of his death at the premises of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Selangor.

NONE "If I were a murderer, I would have sliced him into 18 pieces and buried him under a cement where no one could find him, or I would have thrown him deep into a river... I wouldn't throw him in front of the MACC building... please use your bloody brains," he stormed.

Returning to his main agenda, Lokman claimed that Anwar has stashed away a lot of money in the United States as he would be seeking refuge there should his current sodomy trial turn out badly.

According to Lokman, Anwar would not want to return to prison after having already spent six years for the first sodomy charge.

"When he was in prison the last time, he had told us to do everything we could to get him out, including make a deal with Umno," said Lokman.

"So before he is thrown into prison again, he will depart, but he would be a trouble maker from the outside, just like former Thai premier Thaksin (Shinawatra)".

Azizah: My clothes not that pricey
