Sundry shop owner Suriati Abdullah, 50, may be small in size but she has a very big mission and ambition.
Although named as PKR candidate for the Balingian seat, she is not jittery about taking on the biggest name in Sarawak politics.
"I am confident of toppling Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is the state BN chief.
"I have issues that will be effective and people are behind me," Suriati (right) claimed when met by reporters after receiving her letter of authorisation as PKR candidate for the seat in the coming state polls from PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim in Sibu today.
Suriati said her family members had objected to her candidacy but her husband stood by her decision.
She aslo claimed that support for PKR was very encouraging on the ground among the Melanaus, Chinese and Ibans.
Suriati, who is a form five school leaver, said she would capitalise on issues ranging from land, land titles and the absence of good infrastucture and public amenities in her campaign.
