Bible stamping: So who's stupid now?

vox populi small thumbnail 'Taib claims that he had told Najib that it was a stupid idea. Is Taib indirectly implying that Najib and Hishammuddin are both stupid?'

Taib: Bible serial numbers a 'stupid idea'

Vijay47: There you have it, my dear brethren in Christ, straight from the Dead Sea Scrolls - for verily I tell unto you, Taib the Mahmud, miracle worker extraordinaire, was sent down from Heaven on high to save Christianity from the ravages of heathens, infidels and Umno.

Once lost and now found, once blind and now can see, for his next act (of the Apostles?) Brother Taib will chase out demons from afflicted believers and cast them into swine. Stand back, Charlton Heston.

Louis: Don't ever believe in this cunning old man. Why must he allow the controversy to continue for so long? If ‘Pek Moh' Taib Mahmud is sincere, he could have easily phoned Najib long ago.

Anyway this is the sandiwara played out by Umno. Umno creates an issue, then its component parties like MCA, Gerakan or MIC pretend to solve it on behalf of the community they represent.

Some might be fooled into believing their sincerity. Don't be conned by this dirty tactic.

Klangboy: Where was he when the Bibles were impounded in the first place? Why didn't he come out with a public statement, instead of keeping quiet until now? I put it to you that he lied through his two front teeth.

Geronimo: Taib, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has emphatically said that the Bible issue is not over yet. The policy still remains despite the 10-point solution presented by Idris Jala. Furthermore, the CFM (Christian Federation of Malaysia) has rejected the 10-point proposal in totality. Stop lying to the people.

AnakBangsaMalaysia: Impressive. Next Taib will be claiming credit for creating the mountains and the seas, the forests and the rivers, saving the Jewish people from the Holocaust, coming up with the idea for Noah's Ark, building the Temple of Solomon brick by brick... Taib must be the earthly incarnation of God Himself.

Docs: Taib claims that he had told PM Najib Razak that stamping the Bible with serial numbers was a stupid idea. It looks like Najib and his cousin Hishammuddin Hussein did not heed Taib's ‘good' advice and stamped the Bible anyway, although Najib claimed to have agreed with Taib that it was a stupid idea.

Is Taib indirectly implying that Najib and Hishammddin are both stupid?

Quigonbond: I'm having a good laugh at this. Those officers who stamped the serial numbers fell under the purview of the Home Ministry. Hence Taib is telling Najib that his cousin Hishammuddin is stupid. Perhaps the press should ask Taib whether Hishammuddin should be removed as a minister. And ask Najib too.

Anonymous_5fb: For political reasons, the Melanau are always grouped as 'Malay'. But, from the statement by Taib, Melanau is not 'Malay' as there are Muslims and Christians amongst them. So Taib, you consider yourself a Malay or Melanau?

Well, actually, Malay, Melanau, Dayak, Iban, Chinese, Muslim, Christian are actually not an issue in Sarawak, and for that matter Sabah.

Both Sarawak and Sabah were the model states as far as multi-racialism and religious freedom were concerned. It is Umno that brought in racist politics and politicised Islam, and you are right, it is a 'stupid idea', and yet you have no shame to blame it on Pakatan Rakyat.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: Since Taib is advocating religious pluralism, why must Sarawak always have a Muslim governor or chief minister from the Malay or Melanau ethnic group? Doesn't a Christian Dayak have such rights?

If Sarawak is secular despite Christians making up close to 45 percent of the population, why is Islam only given such prominence by the state government? Why the rule by proxy from Kuala Lumpur, having to be beholden to the Malay/Muslim hegemony of Umno?

If Taib had such strong views on religious freedom and plurality, why was he silent on the Allah issue and now the Al-Kitab, until the elections were announced? Isn't this also hypocrisy and self-preservation? He should have made his position clear from day one and kept a distance from the religious bigots and extremists in West Malaysia, but he did not do this.

Instead he maintained an elegant silence just to keep Umno happy. So why should Christians believe him now? These are desperate times and Taib is a desperate man.

Anonymous: My jaws dropped to the floor at his audacity. Does he really think that anyone would believe him?

SUPP mounts do-or-die challenge in Kuching

Kenyalang: I have also been repeatedly warned that voting for DAP or PKR will make the Chinese lose their representation in the government. My reply has always been, I need representation who will fight and do things for me. Not a coward Chinese puppet sitting in government who dares not say one single word.

With regards to BN candidate Dr Sim Kui Hian, I am sure he is a good man, but one cannot vote for him just so that he can do good things for Pending alone. We want change for everyone in Sarawak to have a better lives.

And unfortunately, Sim is sailing with the pirate ship. He can be a good person, but collectively, a pirate ship is still a pirate ship.

Alan Goh: Sarawakians, please bury SUPP once and for all; the party is a disgrace to the Chinese, just like the MCA in the peninsula. They just have no guts to speak out against their chief - the pirate CM of Sarawak from PBB.

And even if they do speak out, the pirate will just throw some crumbs from the table to shut them up. Sim said, "I told the 1Malaysia PM this and that." Najib does not even listen to (second largest BN party) MCA, what about a peanut party like SUPP in Sarawak?

Matt: Reports that Pek Moh and his PBB are holding out well in the rural areas show that the stipends that he hands out to the simpleton kampong folks are still working, thus condemning Sarawak to a prolonged period in the Stone Age.

Unless the rural areas have more access to information and better educationl they will remain simpletons, content with the loose change handed out to them. Of course, the regime's strategy is to continue depriving them of information and education so that they will remain ignorant, as fools are easily bought and led.

Daniel: Sim's name dropping only proves that he is a BN crony or at least he believes that is how BN functions - that you need to have 'connections' to the right people.

Was the head cardiologist position in SGHHC (Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre) offered to someone with such connections, especially one whose father was a deputy CM?

I'm not saying they did but we have heard of better qualified doctors without a position, haven't we?
