Police today obtained an order to further extend the remand of a religious teacher being detained in connection with the death of a Sekolah Rendah Islam Al Furqan pupil, Saiful Syazani Saiful Sopfidee, until April 15.

The 26-year-old teacher, who was detained since April 2, was brought to the Kangar Magistrate's Court to obtain the order which was issued by Magistrate Nurshahida Abdul Rahim.

The suspect, who was also the hostel supervisor at the school, was investigated under Section 303 of the Penal Code for murder.

Seven-year-old Saiful Syazani died at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) on April 3, three days after he was allegedly assaulted by the teacher concerned for suspected theft.
