Murugiah's stint as senator, deputy minister ends

T Murugiah's tenure as a member of the Dewan Negara and as a deputy minister will expire tomorrow, Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Sidek Hassan said.
Murugiah, 47, is a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
Murugiah was appointed as a senator on April 19, 2008 and as a deputy minister on April 10, 2009.
"On behalf of the government, I would like to take this opportunity to express appreciation and thanks to Senator Murugiah for his contribution and service as a member of the Dewan Negara and a deputy minister," said Sidek.
Murugiah, a former PPP Youth chief, is now an MIC member. He joined the party last year.
