New Straits Times said that Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud needs to act quickly following the fresh mandate given by the voters on Saturday. Also, Sarawak based BN parties have to buck up to win back the Chinese voters who have clearly favoured the opposition coalition.
The Star focused on long-time Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Dr George Chan announcing his resignation as SUPP president following his loss of the Piasau seat on Saturday.

, said that there are now high expectations that the Sarawak BN has to take note of the changes in voting patterns and the expectations for changes in governance, following its worst showing in retaining 55 out of 71 seats that it contested.Utusan Malaysia congratulated BN for its win in Sarawak despite the opposition managing to increase its presence by winning 15 out of the 71 state seats. It also commented on the need for political parties to understand the demands of the voters in wanting to see new faces.
Berita Harian reports that BN in Sarawak has to double their efforts to change the perspective of the Chinese voters who had clearly voted for the opposition following the ruling coalition's poor showing in the Sarawak 10th general election.
