The Chinese are not ungrateful

Anonymous_4056: To those who accuse the Chinese of being ungrateful, please bear in mind: do the Chinese owe their lives to BN and only BN, that we have to prove we are grateful and patriotic to them? Then why not turn Malaysia into a single-party nation?

Just ask yourselves why the Chinese do not support BN. Under the present circumstances anyone who supports and votes BN must be out of their mind, or they must be MCA leaders who have to beg Umno for favours.

DontPlayGod: It is as if the Chinese are not supposed, or have the freedom and rights, to vote for other political parties. So what democracy is Umno talking about? Are DAP, PKR, PAS, etc. not Malaysian political parties? Are these parties representing foreign countries?

In other words, the Chinese have to accept only Umno as their masters and no one else. The Chinese also have to accept their second-class citizenship and accept whatever fate Umno dishes out to them.

There is only Umno, no BN. Just look at the cabinet. It looks not only like a predominantly one-party entity, but in actual fact, behaves like it is the only party that has the final say in all government policies. As far as Umno is concerned, the other mosquito parties might just as well not be there.

Meranti Kepong: Today, the Chinese and Indians have to fend for themselves as the pro-Malay government is busily manufacturing slogans and propaganda just to stay in power and cheat all of us. We should stand up and be counted, and vote only those parties that help us, not insult us.

While I personally think that the Chinese as a race is really not as good as you paint us out to be (take MCA, they are no different from the other BN components), you are absolutely correct in saying that it is pure and utter rubbish that people are termed as traitors just because they don't vote for BN.

You can't be a traitor to someone who has been stealing from you, right? And that's all Umno is - a thief robbing us in broad daylight.

Deputy minister: Don't blame opposition voters

Ksn: Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah talks sense and shows respect for the voters and the people.

It is very sad that the other big shots in Umno/BN cannot understand the elementary approach to win the hearts and minds of the people. No, they do understand, but they think people are stupid and can be hoodwinked.

However, Umno cannot change because of its abuse of power, corruption, destruction of all institutions essential for a democracy, marginalisation of the minorities, failure to address poverty regardless of race and religion, cronyism, racialism, encouraging mediocracy, etc.

The list of vices is too long.

Anonymous_3da0: Saifuddin was HEP (Hal Ehwal Pelajar) manager in UIA (Universiti Islam Antarabangsa) and he was also vocal in saying that university students should be allowed to be politically aware and active.

There's some hope after all. I just hope he does not get sidelined like other thinking leaders in Umno such as Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Shahrir Samad. There are too many Noh Omars and Bung Mokhtar Radins dragging down the level of our elected representatives.

Aaron Yap: At last, we hear some sense from BN MP Saifuddin Abdullah. For the past two weeks, Chinese voters have been lambasted from all sides - MCA, PPP and especially, Umno's Noh Omar.

If only Umno is being run by sensible politicians like Saifuddin, maybe this nation will be much more prosperous than now. If only...

Malaysian for Malaysia: At least there are some in Umno who actually get it. Unfortunately, since he gets it, the Umno powerbrokers will soon get him. Too bad there's actually someone inside the party, a deputy minister no less, who actually has some sense.

Be sensible YB, join PKR or PAS - people like you who can actually think and make sense won't last long in BN.

Sarajun Hoda: The country belongs to the people. They decide who will be our leaders and who will run the estate on their behalf. Politicians who won elections and form government should not think they own the country and run it as if it belonged to them.

The power, the coffers and the laws are there to benefit the people. Leaders who do not perform must go. Those who failed the people are the ones who are really ungrateful.
