Gerard Samuel Vijayan: One flaw in the prosecution's case - tell us which witness either medical, forensic or the police said that ‘Male Y' is Anwar Ibrahim. The evidence and testimony by these witnesses only referred to a Male Y whose DNA was allegedly found in Saiful's anus but they did not confirm that Male Y was Anwar even after the judge admitted the towel, bottle and toothbrush as evidence.

Therefore, throughout the prosecution's case they failed to identify who Male Y was. Only at the submission stage did the prosecution allege that Male Y was Anwar but no such question was put to any of the prosecution's witnesses and neither did they confirm that Male Y was indeed Anwar.

This omission by the prosecution cannot be corrected at the submission stage by simply referring to the evidence and reaching a conclusion that Male Y is Anwar. It must come from the witnesses' mouth not the prosecutor.

Bernard Phillips: Justice Mohd Zabidin Mohd Diah will take 20 days to give his verdict? Something is simply not right here. Why so long? The submissions are over.

Even to a layman it is clear there is simply no case. And if there are still some questions up in the air, Anwar should be given the benefit of doubt as the entire case against the man is so clumsy and riddled with holes because the police and the attorney-general were so eager to 'fix' him that they muddled their investigations.

Cala: I find it hard to understand why the need for judge Mohd Zabidin to take another three weeks before making his decision on whether to call for Anwar's defence. A fact remains a fact. What is there to decide?

Ronin: Judge, you have the decision already, why wait until May 16 to say it?

DAP: Bumi vote helped us win six more seats

Anonymous_4031: BN is still in denial mode since it lost on March 8, 2008 political tsunami, and now at the recent Sarawak election. Instead of playing the racial card, BN should be honest and sincerely address the problems faced by the Dayaks, Ibans, Biduyuhs, Melanaus, Malays and also the Chinese in the state.

For too long people have suffered in silence because they are powerless in the face of the tycoons and those who are close to state chiefs and have thus toed the line. But the uprisings in the Middle East where ordinary people march the streets have emboldened the Sarawakians that they, too, have the power to change the government.

The writing on the wall indicates the danger ahead and if BN leaders are still sleeping, they will wake up in shock when the next election results are out. The best and only solution is to buck up and heed the rumblings on the ground.

Work hard and show your sincerity in your dealings with the people. Pakatan Rakyat leaders should also wake up.

Wira: On the Election Commission's (EC) comments on DAP, the EC is supposed to be a strictly neutral body to conduct elections. Their officials should refrain from making any political comments. If they like politics more than their job of conducting a fair election, they should resign.

Ong: I never understand and never agree with people who claim that DAP depends on Chinese votes. I have always thought that DAP depends on the well-informed, enlightened and intelligent voters, generally from the urban constituencies.

The fact that most of such voters are Chinese is mere coincidence. BN, especially Umno, on the other hand depends on the votes of the simple-minded and the naive from rural and semi-rural constituencies and they try their best to ensure that these voters remain simple-minded and naive.

Freemsia: DAP racist? The last time I checked, it was Umno and the bigots in Perkasa who were talking non-stop about Chinese not being grateful. Since Perkasa said the Chinese Sarawakians are not grateful, maybe they could also ask to have the bumiputera who voted DAP in to be penalised as well. Bet they would not dare do that.

Werewolves: Why Umno is so afraid of DAP? For they can control MCA and MIC to restrict their votes based on race, but they cannot do the same for DAP. That is why they try to portray DAP as a Chinese and racist party. If more and more bumis and even Malays start to join DAP's struggle, it will be the end of BN/Umno rule of Malaysia.

This had happened to Lee Kuan Yew and PAP before. When Lee had started to present his idea of a Malaysian Malaysia and its benefits for Malays in Parliament in eloquent Bahasa, some of the Malay MPs actually nodded their head in agreement. This frightened the Umno leaders.

This is the reason Singapore was kicked out of Malaysia. DAP should expect more attacks from Umno's agents.

Gerakan unconvinced BN can regain Chinese support

Cannon : Baljit Singh, though well-meaning, is on the wrong side. The Chinese swing away from BN to Pakatan is not about to come back.

The Chinese community and other right-thinking Malaysians have rejected BN's trump card of economic development, knowing fully well their sweat and hard work in creating our GNP will continue to be squandered and siphoned out through the NEP, now couched in another name - the NEM.

Look at Ong Tee Keat. In pursuing the PKFZ investigation, he got booted out as MCA president for attempting to tackle corruption from within MCA. All the BN coalition party leaders, including PM Najib, stayed away from the MCA AGM presided by him. So much for their stand on anti-corruption.

Today, Ong is a persona non grata within his own party. The same is going to happen to Baljit for speaking plainly. Leaders like them stick up like a sore thumb in the BN. They just don't fit.

Sulaiman Abdullah2: Gerakan should get back to its roots; it should be in the opposition, it should dissolve and join the DAP without any pre-conditions.

Petestop : Baljit, if only the rest of Gerakan leaders are like you, perhaps Gerakan can regain its glory days under Lim Chong Eu. However, given the current leadership of Koh Tsu Koon, I am afraid there is no hope for your party.

Keturunan Malaysia: Had it not been for component parties in BN like MCA, MIC and Gerakan sleeping on the job for decades, Umno would not be the ugly monster that it is today.
