Speculation is rife that businessperson Shazryl Eskay Abdullah is to be charged today with screening a sex tape involving a man resembling Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim on March 21.

However, Eskay w eskay abdullah in kepong police station sex video hen contacted, denied that he is to be charged today.

“Nobody has informed me that I will be charged," he told Malaysiakini .

"I am on my way to Bangkok (on) a one-day trip.”

Asked if his police bail is expiring today, he said he is not aware of this.

Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail also played down talk that Eskay is to be charged.

"This must be rumours from Bukit Aman," he said, referring to the federal police headquarters.

Head of prosecution at the AG’s Chambers Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah, who is currently out of town, also said he is not aware if Eskay will be charged today.

Meanwhile, it is learnt the police investigation papers on the sex tape have made their way back to the AG's Chambers.

It had been sent there three times prior to this, and each time returned to the police with instructions that the matter be investigated further.

Police have classified the case under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which relates to the distribution or exhibition of obscene material.

azlan Eskay, who is part of the ‘Datuk T’ trio that includes former Malacca Chief Minister Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim, had claimed responsibility for showing the tape at the lavish Carcosa Seri Negara hotel in Kuala Lumpur to a select group of journalists on March 21.

The Kedah-born former honorary Thai consul-general has also handed an Omega watch, said to belong to Anwar, to the police.

However, Anwar has denied he is the person in the sex tape.

Police have verified the sex video tape as authentic, after consulting with specialists from South Korea and the US, but have refused to name the man in the sex tape.

Last month, the full sex tape was uploaded online in four different segments that were later removed.
