Police will check on anti-Bersih 2.0 banners that have been put up at the Ampang Umno division building in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

NONE One of the banners reads Agenda jahat Pakatan haram! Kuburkan Bersih! (Pakatan's illegal wicked agenda! Bury Bersih!), and shows the Bersih 2.0 yellow logo.

Photos of the banners were sent to Malaysiakini by a reader who described the absence of action against Umno as “double standards”.

Yesterday deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar had said the Bersih 2.0 logo is illegal and those wearing T-shirts carrying the logo will be arrested.

When contacted, Ampang Jaya OCPD Amiruddin Jamaluddin said his office is unaware of the banners but will look into it.

"This relates to Bersih. We will look into the circumstances of the banner and decide if it conforms to the provisions of law," he said.

NONE Another banner, also carrying the Bersih logo, reads: Himpunan Bersih gugat keselamatan negara, KDN bertindak sekarang (Bersih rally threatens national security, Home Ministry act now!) with the words ISA (Internal Security Act) emblazoned on it.

When contacted, Ampang Umno division chief Ismail Kijo said the banners had been up for more than two weeks and since the Bersih 2.0 rally is over, the division will take these down.

"The banners were put up since before the July 9 rally. (This was done) by our Umno Youth to voice our opposition to the Bersih rally,” he said.

“We are not running a long-term campaign. The banners will be taken down soon. (And) if they (Bersih 2.0) stop their demands, we will also stop."

On July 2, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein had declared Bersih 2.0 an illegal organisation .
