Sacked former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali who is mulling an Islamic movement called Jati has snubbed Kedah Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) chief Zamil Ibrahim's suggestion of an alliance.

"There have been reports suggesting for us to work together , but I have no plans for it.

"When I look at their organisation, they do not carry the principles of IMR, anything that does not carry IMR, I cannot be with them," he said at a press conference at his residence in Kuala Lumpur.

Hasan ( above ) also ruled out talk that he may lead Kita, whose president Zaid Ibrahim is mulling to dissolve the party, saying, "I have also received similar offers from Perkasa, but I told Ibrahim Ali to remain as life president; the same applies here.

"It is the appropriate and ethical thing to do."

Zamil, however, through a SMS today denied having called on Hasan to replace Zaid.

"I and my comrades only wanted cooperation with the NGO that Hasan is leading," he said.

‘Elections is an option’

Hasan said Jati, which will be officiated on Feb 21, will be a social organisation to uphold Islam, Malays and the royalty rather than a partisan group.

"But I and my friends, in the 13th general election, may or may not stand for election," he said

What platform they would use should they decide to contest would be announced at a later date, he said.

"There are limitations to the NGO; you may be able to make noise but you cannot do much to influence policy. But if we are in the corridors of power, then we can influence policy and its implementation.

"After being involved in both worlds, leading an NGO and being in the government, it would be great if both can be combined," he said.

When asked about the death threats he claimed at a ceramah in Bangi on Jan 31 he had received, Hasan said it began one and a half months ago through SMS, and that he hard heard people whispering about it.

"There are those who like me a lot, and there are those who dislike me a lot and who may resort to whatever.

"But I am not afraid. My wife is more afraid than me; you're frightening my wife by asking about this," he quipped, gesturing to his wife who was present.
