Local police chief Azizan Abdul Aziz identified the victim as Srithon and in his 20s.
Azizan was cited by the official Bernama news agency as saying that the Thai national had died on the spot with serious injuries to his neck, head and legs.
Police said a 30-year-old colleague of Srithon's had also been injured in the attack but had managed to escape. He was taken to a public hospital.
Azizan said six Indonesians, aged between 25 and 35, had been arrested, adding that a blood-stained piece of wood was found at the scene. - AFP
