A giant banner depicting the photograph of DAP Seputeh parliamentarian Teresa Kok has gone missing and she is worried that it may be used to sabotage her.

Kok was informed by supporters early this week that the 33x5m banner adorning an overhead bridge along Old Klang Road had suddenly vanished.

The banner - which cost about RM5,000 - was part of her election campaign and was put up since nomination day on March 13.

"I was shocked as to where it could have gone since it was a giant banner, I am worried that it would be misused by some people," Kok told a press conference at a Bah Kut Teh stall in the area.

She also claimed that some of her smaller posters and banners have also disappeared.

Sabotage possibility

Kok said it was possible that certain quarters may put up the banner after April 4 - the deadline for candidates to remove their election paraphernalia - to frame her.

Under Section 24B(8) of the Election Offences Act, candidates who failed to remove the posters and banners could have their deposit forfeited. In Kok's case, this translates to RM5,000.

The opposition MP said her election agent Lim Hui Ching ( photo, right ) had lodged a police report over the matter with the Brickfields district police headquarters on Tuesday.

According to her, preliminary investigations revealed that none of the local authorities had removed the banner.

Kok said she was also considering filing a report with the Kuala Lumpur Election Commission and City Hall.

The incumbent had defeated MCA's Chin Yen Foo with a majority of 11,503 votes to retain her seat.

Also present at the press conference was DAP candidate for the Puchong parliamentary seat Wong Choong Yun, who also complained that some of his banners went missing.
