A Penang PKR assemblyperson's service centre has been broken into at least three times since Pakatan Rakyat took over the state in 2008.

NONE Pantai Jerejak assemblyperson Sim Tze Tzin said that his service centre has experienced break-ins since 2009. While nothing was stolen the first time, last year, a laptop was found missing.

Sim ( right ), who is PKR's Bayan Baru chief, showed reporters a CCTV recording, where the suspect, seen wearing a helmet, broke into the service centre about 1.08 am Sunday.

He was seen destroying the centre's iron gate padlock before entering the premises, which is located infront of the Bukit Jambul complex.

NONE "I was shocked when I was informed by our neighbour that someone had broken into my service centre again. This is the third time since 2009," Sim said at a press conference yesterday.

"This is unfortunate but luckily this time nothing had been stolen. I'm a poor state assemblyperson, we have no cash or valuables inside the centre," Sim lamented.

"We found that the suspect had opened a drawer and some papers were scattered on the floor. Since no important documents had been stolen, I am ruling out the possibility of it being politically motivated," he stressed.

'Don't delay or deny justice'

Sim, PKR's first-term assemblyman, claimed that his neighbour, the beauty centre below his office, had also been broken into, where cash and products were stolen, although the losses are yet to be estimated.

NONE Sim urged the police to investigate the matter urgently, although he has confidence in their professionalism.

The incidences, Sim said, are not isolated cases, calling on the police to uphold justice immediately as "justice delayed is justice denied".

"My service centre's landlord told me that the pharmacy downstairs was also robbed by two men, who walked into the shop and stole RM2,000 and some products," he complained.

"There are many incidences of criminal cases although Bukit Jambul is called Bandar Selamat (safe city)," quipped the former political secretary of Opposition Leader and Permatang Pauh MP Anwar Ibrahim.

Reduction in crime rates?

Sim recalled that other lawmakers - Anthony Loke (DAP-Rasah) and Yusmadi Yusoff (PKR-Balik Pulau) - have had simlar experiences, where the former had lost RM10,000 when his home was robbed, and the latter's mother was punched by the thug.

NONE He urged the police not to merely claim that there is a reduction in crime rate, hoping that the public would be able to rest with that.

"The first time when it happened, I put up an iron gate. When it happened the second time, I installed a CCTV. Now, I do not know what to do," Sim lamented.

Sim said he was planning to lodge a police report, as he did over the two past cases, however, the police had failed to update him about the first case.

"On the second incident, the police said a year ago, they had arrested a suspect and recovered the laptop but have yet to return it to me," Sim claimed.

"I do not know whether the suspect had been charged, sentenced to jail or not," he added.
