Fifteen Filipinos and a police lance corporal, who had earlier been tentatively charged in the magistrate’s court with various offences relating to the Lahad Datu intrusion, will be brought before the Tawau High Court this Friday.

Eight of them are facing the death sentence, or life sentence and a fine, on a charge of waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Incidentally, this is the second time in the country that the charge had been invoked.

In 2000, it was invoked against the Al Maunah rebels in Bukit Jenalik Sauk, Perak.

Meanwhile, the remaining seven accused face allegations of participating in terrorism, harbouring terrorists and recruiting others to join terrorist groups.

The policeman is accused of concealing information on terrorist activities.
