EC deputy chief puts foot in his big mouth again

YOURSAY 'Spoken like a true member of Umno. The EC is never wrong. Yes, people who are demonstrating against it are ignorant.'

EC deputy chief dismisses electoral fraud memo

your say Sali Tambap: It is quite easy to dislike Election Commission (EC) deputy chief Wan Ahmad Wan Omar.

Even if he does not agree with the NGO memorandum on allegations of electoral fraud, he did not have to say that the people who came to the Kelana Jaya stadium last Wednesday "know nothing except to have some fun."

Even before he answers what is contained in the memorandum, he has shown his prejudice against the attendees at the stadium. This man lacks human understanding and diplomacy.

He is not fit to hold such important position as to be the EC deputy chief. Surely Malaysia deserves better than this.

Onyourtoes: Wan Ahmad, I have no idea what was contained in the memo submitted by the students, but I would advise you to be careful when making negative comments about those who attended the rally in Kelana Jaya Stadium on May 8.

We, the rakyat, will hold you responsible (when time is right) for engineering an electoral system that allows a political party/coalition having less than 47 percent of the popular votes but still gains a comfortable majority to rule this country with impunity.

You must know the source of the water you drink. Your salary and perks come from people who dislike you intensely, not from those in rural Sarawak, Sabah or Pahang.

Anonymous_4031: Even The Economist of UK, an independent weekly, called it Najib's "tainted" win in a skewed polls.

What more do you need to condemn EC's failure to address complaints in conducting a free and fair election, and with a clean electoral roll?

Did the EC ever criticise the BN and make proactive measures to rectify dubious names in the electoral roll? No? Why not?

Avenger: The EC makes no mention of the decision of a judge in Sabah who found that the electoral roll was tainted by fraud, there being many illegal voters.

What did BN do? It used its super majority to amend the Election Act so that after the electoral roll is gazetted, the court cannot question the contents of the roll.

There is citizenship, immigration and registration fraud leading to people illegally getting citizenship and blue ICs (identity cards) and getting registered as voters.

There are cases of people voting twice, having two different ICs, each with a different name and number. Malaysians overseas were illegally registered as voters and local imposters voted on their behalf, probably with false ICs carrying the particulars of the Malaysians overseas.

Foreigners were illegally given ICs and the EC registered them as voters. There was blatant vote-buying and misuse of government facilities and taxpayers' money.

Mengxiang: I know which particular law Wan Ahmad is referring to. The law that anyone with an IC issued by the National Registration Department (NRD) is entitled to vote.

Never mind that he is a Bangladeshi, Pakistani or Indonesian instant citizen and a hundred people sharing the same residential address, everything is okay, yes?

Tan Kim Keong: Wan Ahmad's paradigm about people between aged 21 and 40 is that they know nothing except to have fun. So now we know what and where the problem is.

Mind you, people like Wan Ahmad think the same. And we know who they are. Hence the institution EC and electoral system have to be reformed.

And it is mandatory to get the current EC office bearers out now before the next electoral delineation exercise at the end of the year.

OMG!!: How can the EC deputy chief talk like the ruling regime when he is supposed to be heading an independent institution?

And how can he insult today's youths who are more educated, independent and having better perspectives than his generation's blind loyalty to a corrupted, racist, treacherous and crooked regime?

Astounded: Spoken like a true member of Umno. The EC is never wrong. People who are demonstrating against it are ignorant. Even the proven contamination of the electoral rolls and fraudulent conduct of the elections are of no consequence.

We have the cleanest electoral roll in the world - so say you and your boss. There is no mention of the EC being willing to carry out any investigation in the light of the numerous complaints of fraud received.

With people like you, what hope do we have of cleaning up the electoral roll and having a clean and fair election? The EC will never have any public confidence and trust until it is completely revamped and both you and your boss are in the way of any meaningful revamping.

You still don't get it. The people just do not have any confidence in both of you. Please go so that the clean-up can begin. We look forward to a transparent EC, not one that is plagued by dishonesty, incompetence and arrogance.
