Local TV channels will broadcast live the announcement of the new cabinet by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at 5pm today.

"Follow the live broadcast of Najib announcing the appointment of new ministers and deputy ministers line-up at 5pm today at TV1 and other local TV stations," says the prime minister's press office on its Twitter webpage.

According to national news agency Bernama , Najib arrived at Istana Negara in a black Proton Perdana at 11.55am today and went straight to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present the list of new cabinet members.

About 30 minutes later, the same car carrying Najib was seen leaving the palace grounds. Some 20 media representatives had been spotted waiting outside the main gate.

The swearing-in of the appointed ministers and deputy ministers will be held at Istana Negara at 9.30am tomorrow.

Before the dissolution of Parliament on April 3, the cabinet had 28 ministers handling 25 ministries.
