ROS plea to MCA: Show compassion for Liow

your say, YoursayKgen: It is very unbecoming of the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to get involved in MCA's internal dispute (between party chief Chua Soi Lek and deputy Liow Tiong Lai). Shame on the DG for issuing such a letter.

Jeremy Ng: It looks like the ROS is now playing the role internal interferers. What rights does ROS have to suggest ways for MCA to resolve its internal conflicts?

Peacemaker: I am wondering why ROS is interfering in a political party's internal affairs. This is an unprecedented move by the ROS. It should explain it's their own advice or they are acting as Umno's mouthpiece.

AF McLaren: ROS, you are a mere administrator, a functionary, a vessel where the minister pours his fruits of deliberation. So, the question is, are you carrying out an instruction from the minister, like what you did in the DAP case? If not, you better shut up. I am not an MCA member or supporter, but I too will say the same: butt out.

Black Mamba: It's none of ROS' business to poke into the political internal affairs of MCA. ROS has definitely crossed the line. As long as the requisition for the EGM is in order the decision lies with MCA.

ROS please butt out. If you want to poke your nose around I suggest you look into Umno's recent branch elections. Many improprieties were highlighted by the members and grievances were raised. Start there, please.

Ruben: ROS, you are acting like the prime minister giving advice on areas that are beyond your official remit. First it was DAP's central committee election, and now MCA's EGM. When are you going to advise Umno?

We already have many tainted politicians and don't want political stooges like you to add to that. Now any authority can shoot from the hip. The reason for this is that our top leadership does not care a damn or pretends not to care what you people do.

Vijay47: How touching. After mercilessly going after DAP in the hope of finding the tiniest excuse to deregister the party, the ROS has suddenly acquired a caring side and has assumed the role of an Aunt Agony to MCA.

What business is it of the ROS to interfere in the squabbles of any organisation? It is only in the event where such a society breaks the law, that the ROS would be justified in taking action appropriately and fairly.

On the other hand, what action will ROS be taking in scrutinising the illegal activities that are taking place in the current Umno elections? Of course, when it comes to Umno, they come under no law, man‑made or divine.

The only real question I have is why there seems a sudden burst of utterly stupid statements from all manner of people especially heads of government departments, ministers, and particularly judges.

Multi Racial: In the first place, why would a director general of ROS bother about a political party's internal affairs? Is the DG is a good friend of Liow's or is the DG acting on a directive from the home minister, who is Liow's master?

It is not that I agree with what Chua is doing. Basically I think if these two care about the Chinese in the country, it is best both of them not just retire but go missing for good. We do not want to see their faces in this country.

And the same clown in ROS Desmond Das once claimed that they had never received instructions from the Umno government in the DAP reelection incident. Clowns are known jokers, but this one in particular has poor memory.

Fair Play: Go, Chua, go. Tell ROS not to meddle in partisan politics. Just look at the way ROS treated DAP, and everyone can see the difference.

Ipohcrite: ROS has become a component party in the BN, judging by its actions. As a taxpayer, I am disappointed that the ROS has not performed its stipulated role and has transgressed into politics, unwittingly or by design. Probably, the latter, I guess.

VP Biden: ROS might as well put up a candidate for the MCA party elections, since the actual president of MCA is Umno.

Onyourtoes: Whether ROS is fair or not is a separate issue. But to say that ROS can't interfere because it is an internal party affair is nonsensical. What internal affair, if party incumbents have abused their power and put the interests and rights of other members at jeopardy?

I think most MCA leaders can't think straight, they just know how to play politics and lick boots.

Progressive: I'm not a supporter of MCA and am not even a Chinese. But this is none of ROS' business. We as Malaysians should tell it to rid their impertinence and arrogance and don't get involved in party matters. When it comes to Umno, ROS has nothing to say.

Samurai: It is ROS' job to ensure parties comply with the regulations and with their constitutions, that's all. How parties conduct business is for the members to decide, not ROS nor BN.

Just look, Umno even had their chair and deputy chair positions ensured without an election, and that result ultimately affects the whole country as it determines our PM and DPM, so how about that? What did ROS do, did ROS advise that it would not be fair to members?

SpongeBob: The ROS DG turns a blind eye to the recent Umno election problems. He has no balls or guts to advise or take action on them. He is an idiotic coward!

AF McLaren: This country is truly 'unique '. We have a PM who doesn't comment on a constitutional issue regarding the use of the word 'Allah'. Then we have a minister who says the rising crime situation is a perception.

Now we have a government servant 'advising' a political party to go easy on its deputy president.
