The Dewan Rakyat today rejected an emergency motion by Shamsul Iskandar Akin (PKR-Bukit Katil) to condemn the US, Singapore and Australia over alleged spying activities on Malaysia.

Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia said the motion was not urgent because the government has sent a protest note to the US Embassy.
Shamsul (right in photo) told a press conference in the Parliament lobby that such activities are a threat to the country's sovereignty and should therefore be taken seriously.
"I am disappointed that this has not been debated upon," he said.
He said Putrajaya should follow the examples of the Brazilian, Indonesian and German governments which have reacted strongly to the allegations.
The US has had to apologise to Germany, while Indonesia recalled its ambassador from Australia.
Until now, Malaysia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has not confirmed if the allegations are true, merely saying that it is investigating the claims.
