PAS' Temerloh MP Nasrudin Hassan today continued with his less than subtle jibes at PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for wanting his wife and PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Selangor menteri besar,

Today he dug up the controversy when PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's was accused of nepotism comparing it with the situation "today".

Nasrudin, who is also a PAS central committee, highlighted a 2009 case during Nik Aziz's tenure as Kelantan menteri besar where the latter's son-in-law Abdul Ariffahmi Ab Rahman was appointed as Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated (PMBK) chief executive officer.

"The term 'nepotism' was used as the basis for criticism. The central PAS body advised Kelantan and Ariffahmi complied," he said in a Facebook posting, adding that Ariffahmi eventually resigned from the state-owned company.

Nasrudin then questioned whether nepotism was somehow no longer relevant now.

"Or is nepotism only for Nik Aziz's son-in-law Ariffahmi, and not others?

"If nepotism is allowed and acceptable, why only now? It should have been accepted five years ago," he said.

No to 'wife'

In another swipe, he said it was "unusual" for "certain quarters" who is insistent about their wife becoming the head of government in a state.

"There are quarters, particularly among clerics, that reject a woman leader (menteri besar) based religious arguments (nas and khilaf) for a state - that is normal.

"But when there are quarters that want only their wife to become menteri besar for a state without debate as it is absolute, then it is unusual," he said in a posting yesterday.

PKR, who had found it difficult to work with current Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, has in a unanimous party decision decided to replace him with Wan Azizah.

Even DAP has also endorsed Wan Azizah, PAS has been inconsistent in its stand, and has insisted on abiding by the Selangor sultan's call for all Pakatan parties to supply multiple names to choose from.

Nasrudin's attacks echo a fresh round of BN propaganda surrounding Wan Azizah's appointment since Khalid's resignation from his post, with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak crying nepotism followed by a chorus of similar remarks from MCA and Gerakan.
