Sarawak Senior Minister James Masing has urged action against former Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin for allegedly supporting extremist groups such as Perkasa and Isma.

 

"Those who support these extremists should have laws thrown at them," he said.

Masing was commenting on Zainuddin’s attack on him for being vocal against the seizure of  Christian material which contain the word 'Allah'.

Zainuddin (left) in his blog accused Parti Rakyat Sarawak president of being a Pakatan Rakyat tool, and said Masing’s statement would cause confusion and hurt national unity.

He also said that Masing’s remarks could cause unease among the Christian community, thus contains "elements of sedition".

Commenting on the accusations, Masing said that all Malaysians should stand against bigotry and extremism.

"If I am tool of someone, it is because I am a tool of moderation, justice and fairplay in Malaysia.

 

"Extremism which Perkasa and Isma represent should be stopped. Those who support these extremists should have laws thrown at them without fear or favour," he said.

 

"Don’t taint Malaysia with bigotry, extremism and racism. After all Malaysia has been painted as a nation of moderates."
