PKR confirms meet to discuss hudud controversy

PKR has confirmed that a political bureau meeting had been convened to discuss the issue of hudud implementation yesterday.
However, party secretary-general Rafizi Ramli said that as the meeting was internal, PKR will not be issuing any statements on the matter yet.
PKR’s meeting comes after Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob announced on Dec 14 that the state government will hold a special state assembly sitting on Dec 29 to speed up hudud implementation in the state.
Ahmad ( right ) had said that the amendment was part of the procedure by the state government, before tabling a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament to seek approval for Kelantan to enforce hudud.
Meanwhile, Rafizi had last week urged Pakatan Rakyat leaders not to be sidetracked by the hudud controversy cropping up again.
Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah has, however, noted that DAP could leave the coalition if it was not convinced of an opposition pact victory in the 14th general election if post-hudud implementation in the state.
This comes after DAP - during its annual national conference - slammed the implementation of hudud in the absence of PAS' top leadership at the function.
