PKR deputy president Azmin Ali wants the DAP-PAS spat on local government elections to be resolved at the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting.

"This must be resolved in Pakatan. I am certain when we do call for the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting, the matter will be discussed.

"Pakatan Rakyat's strength is in moving with one decision and consensus, not based on personal views," he told journalists in Shah Alam this morning.

Azmin, who is Selangor menteri besar, said this after attending attending the state's monthly civil servant assembly.

Last Friday, Hadi claimed that DAP's push for local council elections in Penang may lead to a repeat of the May 13, 1969 race riots.

This prompted several DAP leaders to fire back at the PAS president, calling his assertion "illogical".

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday Hadi's claim was his own "personal opinion".

The relationship between PAS and its Pakatan coalition partners DAP and PKR began deteriorating after the Selangor menteri besar crisis over disagreements on who should be the state's menteri besar after Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Pakatan has not convened a leadership council meeting for more than four months as Hadi had refused to attend the meeting.

At the state level, Azmin said, the Selangor government was in the early stages of discussion on local council elections.

"I think the three (Pakatan) parties should continue this by sitting together and discussing.

"We will decide what is the best from the options that we have. We will surely reform," added Azmin, who is also the MP for Gombak.
