The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Special Operations Division’s office was raided by police this evening.

This is in relation to a purportedly leaked papers related to the commission’s investigation into the former 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd.

At least five vehicles including four police cars were seen leaving the Putrajaya police district headquarters at about 6.45pm and were spotted outside the division's office at Menara Prisma ( photo ) in Putrajaya soon after.

About 16 police personnel arrived at about 7pm and were seen leaving the building an hour later with a handful of documents and small bags.

None spoke to reporters present, instead marching straight to their cars and driving away.

A spokesperson for the MACC had earlier told reporters outside the district police headquarters that three of its officers were being questioned inside regarding the leak until 6.45pm by police personnel attached to the national police headquarters in Bukit Aman.

Among the trio was MACC deputy director (special operations) Tan Kang Sai, who is the seventh and latest MACC officer to be questioned by police about the leak.

Raided second time

The case is being investigated under Section 124B of the Penal Code for ‘activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy’ which carries a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment.

Today’s raid marks the second time the police had raided the MACC special operations division’s office.

The first was one on Aug 1 to search the office of a deputy public prosecutor who was involved in MACC’s investigation.
