Former Parti KeADILAN Nasional vice-president Marina Yusoff today dismissed rumours that she will be rejoining Umno as without any basis.

"I am not the party-hopper that Umno people are saying about me. I am not interested in joining any party," Marina told kepada malaysiakini .

"Umno members need not worry; their positions will not be jeopardised," she said in jest, refuting the possibility of her joining and holding a position in Umno where she once served as a supreme council member.

The News Straits Times today reported Umno Secretary-General Khalil Yaakob as saying that he had not received any information regarding Marina's application to rejoin the party.

Previous newspaper reports said that Marina sent in her resignation letter to KeADILan because she wanted to concentrate on her business, and also for health reasons on the advice of her doctor.

"Pressure (from Umno) is always there, and not just on me," she said. However, she did not explain what form of pressure it was.

"I wasn't pressured by banks or financial institutions," she added, referring to her business problems that are said to have arisen since she joined Parti Melayu Semangat 46.

When asked about the statements made by a few KeADILan supreme council members on her "scathing" letter to party vice-president Dr Chandra Muzaffar, she said they were entitled to voice their opinion ("[#2] Marina's lettter leaked to create rift[/#] ", June 28).

"I stand by what I wrote. I don't know how to pretend and lie," she said. ("[#2] Marina wrote a scathing letter to Chandra[/#] ", June 26).

She added that she wanted to forget everything that had happened (the incidents stated in the letter) and wished to be left in peace.

"I don't want to give any comment anymore and I don't know how the letter reached malaysiakini ," she said. "Let bygones be bygones."
