PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli was today questioned by police on whether he called for the arrest of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor at the Bersih 4 protest rally on Aug 29 and 30.

Rafizi is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which covers making statements that would alarm the public.

"I found it humorous as the questions asked in the investigation under Section 505(b) revolved around the chants of ' Tangkap Najib, Tangkap Rosmah ' (Catch Najib, Catch Rosmah) that he made.

"I was not asked at all about the other contents of my speech other than 'Nab Najib, Nab Rosmah'," Rafizi said in a statement today.

He said he was also being investigated under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for wearing a Bersih 4 T-shirt that was declared illegal by the government.

Rafizi criticised the move to get police to investigate chants of 'Tangkap Najib, Tangkap Rosmah ', stating the such expressions were public sentiment.

Harsher remarks

"If Najib and Rosmah would take some time off to look at the comments the rakyat are making about them, the comments are worse than ' Tangkap Najib, Tangkap Rosmah '.

"If the prime minister truly cares for the rakyat, he would surely know that it has reached a level where people hate him.

"If I am being investigated for these chants, then the police will have to investigate millions of other Malaysians who have made much harsher remarks," he noted.

Rafizi urged police to focus on combating crime instead of investigating people who expressed their opinions on Najib and Rosmah.
