The Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (Margma) today expressed its support towards the government's efforts in participating in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

"Despite being a small trading nation, Malaysia plays a significant part in the global export and import market with vibrant industries.

"It requires the cooperation and partnership of the Pacific region to ensure continuous growth," said Margma in a statement.

The association believes that in the longer term, countries such as China might also be invited to be a partner.

"It is essential for all Malaysians to be pro-active and not close-minded about the TPPA, for the betterment of Malaysia," it added.

Margma also urged the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) to explain and clarify the benefits of the trade pact to the wider Malaysian society.

It also acknowledges the efforts taken by Miti to ensure the interests of all Malaysian industries are protected.
