DAP lawmaker Tony Pua, the most vocal of all Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members, is looking forward to working with Rompin MP Hasan Arifin who is slated to lead the committee .

However, he also issued a reminder that the public’s hope is resting on the PAC to complete its investigations concerning several critical matters, including 1MDB.

"I am looking forward to continuing the work of the PAC with the new chairperson.

"The rakyat has high hopes on the PAC to finish our investigations on 1MDB, Mara and many other issues," he told Malaysiakini .

Pua’s vocalness had even prompted 1MDB to demand the DAP lawmaker to resign from PAC for breaching ethics.

Previously, former PAC chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed ( photo ) was seen as often defending Pua when even Umno MPs wanted the opposition man’s head to roll.

Hasan has only been an MP for five months after winning the Rompin by-election in May.

His previous experience in the legislature was when he became Bukit Ibam state assemblyperson between 1995 and 1999.

All eyes would be on Hasan's ( photo ) leadership as the PAC, which was investigating Najib's controversial brainchild 1MDB, was abruptly put on ice in July.

This was after Najib co-opted its Nur Jazlan and three other members into the government.

The move was seen as a bid to scuttle the PAC's investigation into 1MDB.

The PAC's probe had been frozen since pending the appointment of new members to the committee.
