Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will decide whether to sue former MCA chief Dr Ling Liong Sik after tabling the 2016 annual budget on Friday.

This will be half-a-month after Ling called on Najib to resign as prime minister for "taking people's money into his personal account".

The seven-day deadline issued to Ling to apologise or face a legal suit has expired by a week since Najib's lawyer Mohd Hafarizam Harun issued the legal letter of demand to Ling.

Ling has responded formally that he will not apologise.

At the time Hafarizam said the PM was "too busy" to attend to the matter and would do so later.

A week later, Najib is tied up with the upcoming budget presentation.

"I am seeking an appointment to see my client.

"As you are aware, next week is budget week, thus my client will be tremendously occupied with the preparations.

"I think I will wait until budget is over and then will seek his instructions," Hafarizam ( photo ) told Malaysiakini in a text message.

Najib also threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal ( WSJ ) for its report that RM2.6 billion had been transferred into Najib's personal bank accounts.

However, Najib has repeatedly delayed the deadline for the foreign press to retract its articles and to issue an apology.

Other than claiming he was a "victim" under a conspiracy against the government, Najib has not taken any action against WSJ .
