Pakatan Harapan appears to be in a state of disarray, according to Merdeka Centre director Ibrahim Suffian.

He added that its disagreement on the tabling of a motion for a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak underscored the lack of coordination.

"What we're seeing today just encapsulates the problem with the opposition right now.

"It just goes to show that despite the fact that BN is experiencing some problems, the opposition can't even take advantage of the weaknesses in BN," he told Malaysiakini .

Earlier today, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng urged PKR lawmaker Hee Loy Sian to retract his motion on the matter, saying it was not a "game of marbles".

Lim wanted Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to file the motion on such an important issue instead of any ordinary member of Parliament.

Failing which, he hinted DAP might not support the motion.

Hee, however, remained adamant and pointed out that Lim was not his party president.

Ibrahim ( photo ), who was unsure whether there was a particular protocol to follow with regard to tabling such a motion, however said any MP should be free to table a proposal.

"But if the opposition sees it as something major, it ought to have had a meeting prior to it," he said.

"This just shows its total lack of preparedness and inability to get its own household in order.

"How can the public have any kind of confidence in them?" he added.

Wan Azizah not fit to be opposition leader

Meanwhile, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) lecturer Maszlee Malik said the situation proved the "looseness" of Pakatan Harapan.

"It shows how loose the connection is now. It cannot even agree on tabling that motion.

"Pakatan Harapan is very loose... With PKR having problems on agreeing with the component parties , this (has) resulted in what we had this morning," he added.

Mazlee ( photo ) did not mince his words in blaming Wan Azizah for the problem.

"It all started with her inability to put things in order. She's not fit to be opposition leader.

"As the opposition leader, before she asked Hee to table (the motion), she must make sure to call all the opposition leaders," he said.

Pointing out that they were tabling a crucial motion, Maszlee said it was only normal for the opposition leader to do it.

"And it's not new, she knows it. She has been tabling lots of (motions) on big issues in the past when she was also opposition leader," he said.
