How much did MCA get from RM2.6b, asks MP

A DAP parliamentarian wants to know the amount received by MCA from the RM2.6 billion transferred into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s personal bank accounts.

“Was the amount transferred into the personal accounts of MCA leaders, too, or was it transferred into MCA’s official bank account?

“If it did go into personal accounts, who had received the funds?” asked Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng in a statement today.

Former MCA president Chua Soi Lek was asked about the RM2.6 billion issue last week.

Chua had recollected how Najib had, in a BN supreme council meeting before the 13th general election, made an unprecedented pledge to fund BN component parties.

Lim, therefore, asked whether the silence of other MCA leaders was proof that the funds received were indeed from the prime minister.

As such, MCA leaders are given 24 hours to come clean on the matter.

“If not, I will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for the bank account of the party or the personal accounts of its leaders to be investigated.

“I really want to know where the funds which were donated to MCA have gone to,” he said.

In July, both Wall Street Journal and Sarawak Report cited leaked investigation papers which found RM2.6 billion had been deposited into Najib’s personal bank accounts.

The reports claim that US$681 million came from Tanore Finance Corp while another RM42 million came from state-owned SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
