Canning assemblyperson Wong Kah Woh has been voted as DAP's new youth chief for a three year term.

In the party election, Wong garnered 249 votes compared to his contender Yeo Bee Yin's 156 votes, scoring Wong a 93 vote majority. There was one spoilt vote.

Wong's running mate Wong King Wei also managed to win the deputy chief's post, besting his opponent Tan Hong Pin by 89 votes.

Bryan Lee Chee Kwan, who is believed to be also Kah Woh's running mate, won the national secretary's post by 47 votes, compared to Ketari assemblyperson Lee Chin Chen.

Arul Kumar Jambunathan and Liow Cai Tung won the two vice chief posts uncontested.

Meanwhile, the 15 members voted into the Dapsy's national executive council are:

Normally, those voted into the national executive council are the top 15 candidates in terms of number of votes.

However, Dapsy has a quota of five women in the committee, meaning that Dyana Sofya managed to secure a post despite ranking 18th on the vote tally.

The candidate ranked 15th is Muhammad Shakir Ameer Mohideen, who garnered 194 votes.

'Neither sad nor disappointed'

Speaking to reporters to reporters after the results were announced, Yeo said she was not sad nor disappointed despite losing the election, and repeatedly said she had tried her best.

“ I think we put up a good fight against a veteran. I think we tried our best to tell what we want to do if we had won.

“Even i f we lost, we are still comrades, we will continue to work together,” she said.

She said she didn't intend to run for re-election due to the age limit imposed in Dapsy, but she would be willing to accept being co-opted into the national executive council.

Meanwhile, after a short meeting, Kah Woh announced that Yeo was indeed among those to be co-opted into the council.

In addition, he said four state Dapsy chiefs who are not already in the council would become its ex-officio members. They are:

Damien Yeoh (Melaka)

Junz Wong (Sabah)

Meanwhile, Kah Woh announced that the council had decided in its first meeting to hold an international political education summit in the first half of next year, which will likely run for two days and one night.

“ The purpose of course is to empower Dapsy leadership at all levels and to give them such an exposure, Kah Woh said.

Wong said the council will hold its first meeting in two weeks, during which the new office bearers would present a plan and budget proposal for his portfolio over the next year.
