A pamphlet defending Muhyiddin Yassin from wrongdoing is being distributed to Umno delegates, as the embattled deputy president continues to lose ground in the party.

The 28-page pamphlet, titled ‘Aku Bukan Petualang’ (I am not a traitor) includes a first-person narrative allegedly from Muhyiddin's perspective.

The pamphlets were handed out to delegates by two men who did not wish to be identified, at the pedestrian bridge between the Putra World Trade Centre and the Sunway Putra mall this morning.

In the document, the narrator maintains that he has always been a loyal party man and deputy, who was instrumental in making Najib Abdul Razak prime minister.

Muhyiddin was one of the top Umno leaders calling for then prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to quit in 2009, paving the way for Najib to take over the reins.

The narrator said he had supported all of Najib's policies, except when it came to 1MDB.

Even then he said, his concern was that 1MDB would trigger a financial crisis in the country.

"I never prayed for 1MDB to fall, because if 1MDB falls so will the government," the narrator said.

He stressed that it was his responsibility as the then deputy premier to advise the prime minister.

The narrator also lamented how he had been sidelined in Umno after being axed from the cabinet, and how his right to address Umno delegates at this year's AGM was denied.

However, he said he would remain loyal to Umno and had no desire to form a new party.

"There are those who say, if I am not happy I should quit and move to a new party, my answer is simple - there has to be a lot of thought put in before forming a new party as there have been many new parties that were formed today and died tomorrow," he said.

The narrator said instead of him leaving, it is Umno that needs to transform itself so as to command respect from the public.

There have been multiple pamphlets being distributed to Umno delegates throughout the three-day AGM.

Some are government-backed, such as the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa) booklets on 1MDB and the red shirt rally .
